1. “Traffic calming” measures such as speed humps, street bump-outs, median strips and enforcement of posted speed limits.  ( Objection to speed humps or bumps was expressed  by a car collector because “collector”cars are too low to go over these devices safely.)

2.  Better repair/maintenance of alleys and streets.

3. Enforcement of speed laws, load limits, and illegal maneuvers.  Include education and statistic gathering as part of the enforcement program. Especially improve enforcement of speed and traffic laws around schools for the protection of pedestrian and bike riding children.

4.  Stop “cut thru” traffic through residential areas. Make it easier to travel on major highways with better left turn signals so drivers are not tempted to take shortcuts.

5.  Support multi-modal approachs to local and regional transportation needs such as the Green Line extended to LAX ,the Expo lite rail line and a variety of non-automobile people movers.

6.  Provide for transportation alternatives to the automobile such as walking, bikes, electric chairs, busses, shuttles, and lite rail. Improve parking space for vehicles/bikes and amenities such as bus stop shelters for people transferring from one transportation mode to another.

7.  Seek solutions to local traffic impacts of  regional developments, such as Playa Vista, LAX expansion/remodel, and Marina del Rey condo developments, which add to already saturated intersections in MVCC and whose service levels are already rated D or F by DOT.

8. Seek solutions to Santa Monica Airport noise, pollution and safety.  (Especially the pollution and noise impacts on schools under the flight paths.)

9. Control the sale of cars along  city streets which turn streets into used car lots.

10.  List the 10 most deadly intersections (including on and off ramps to freeways) and seek mitigation.
