Mar Vista Community Council



1. Goal:  To identify specific traffic problems in the MVCC
area, to investigate solutions, and to advocate for change with the
appropriate city departments.



Objectives:

	a. Speeding (Enforcing speed laws, load limits, and illegal manuvers; 
Investigate signage, speed bumps, street bump-outs, median strips and other "traffic calming"
measures):

		a1.  Specific areas:

			Grandview Blvd.

			Inglewood Blvd

			Centinela Avenue

			Egress and Ingress onto Overland Ave. from the 405 freeway 

			Around schools and commercial zones


	b. Unsafe intersections (adding turn signals, monitoring traffic flow, etc.)

		a1. Specific areas:

			Centinela Ave. and Venice Blvd

			Sawtelle Blvd and National Blvd


	c. Cut-through traffic (improve traffic flow on major streets, etc.)

		a1. Charnock and Victoria Streets


	d. Parking restrictions that address local problems (ie. cars for sale, etc.)


2. Goal:  Develop a program to educate those living in the community about their responsibilities regarding traffic problems.



Objectives:

	a. speeding on local streets


	b. reporting speeding drivers, etc.


3. Goal: To identify streets, alleys and sidewalks, etc. in the MVCC area that require repairs & maintenance, and report them to the appropriate city departments.

4. Goal: To support multi-modal approaches to local and regional transportation needs, especially those that impact the MVCC area. 



Objectives:

	a. Expo light rail line


	b. Green Line to LAX


	c. other modes of transport (ie. people movers, etc.)




5. Goal: To investigate transportation alternatives to automobiles and advocate for changes where needed.

	a. pedestrian - sidewalks


	b. bikeways


	c. handicapped accessibility


6. Goal: To be pro-active regarding the transporation impacts to the MVCC  community from regional developments.

	a.  Playa Vista


	b. LAX expansion


	c. Marina del Rey condo developments on Glencoe Avenue


7. Goal: To remain informed about developments and concerns regarding the Santa Monica Airport.
