AIP Speaker Series presents LAFD: Making a Difference for Seniors

Posted on 03/15/17

How does the Los Angeles Fire Department make a difference in the life of older adults as we age in place? Please join the MVCC Aging in Place Committee for a discussion with LAFD Assistant Chief Armando R. Hogan.

Thursday, February 16th, 2016
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Windward School Boardroom 1030, Building C (by baseball diamond)
11350 Palms Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066

Let’s discuss how LAFD helps us – and how we can help them. What is a wellness check and how do we prompt one? How can we help first responders? What safety and prevention services are available? What is the File of Life? Are responders allowed to respect a DNR request? Are vulnerable older adults clearly identified for assistance in an emergency?

Bring your questions too. Let’s come up with ideas that we can implement together and even pilot in Mar Vista as we embark on Purposeful Aging LA!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER SERIES
The Mar Vista Community Council Aging in Place Committee has a rich and diverse community. It brings a wide range of expertise related to aging – starting with seniors themselves, professionals in services and non-profits, those providing care to senior family members and those who are planning ahead for our own senior years. Each month they host a guest speaker at their meeting and provide opportunities for networking and sharing personal stories. All are welcome to attend.
