The Mar Vista Community Council is seeking candidates to fill an upcoming vacancy for Zone 4 Director on its Board of Directors. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the community and to advocate for its interests. The appointment will last until the next election in June of 2021 at which time the selected candidate may, at his/her sole discretion, choose to run for re-election. In order to qualify, a Stakeholder must be at least eighteen years of age and live, work, or own property within the geographic boundaries of Zone 4 (South of Palms Blvd., North of Venice Blvd., East of Centinela Ave., and West of the 405 freeway).
This is a volunteer position and can involve substantial time. There is one Board meeting monthly which typically lasts 2-1/2 hours, exclusive of set-up and tear-down. In addition, each Board member is expected to serve as Chair, Co-Chair, or Vice-Chair of at least one committee and remain current on all city-required training. Some members spend four or five hours per week on Board business; others spend many more.
