One of Mar Vista’s most popular community events, the Green Garden Showcase, is back this year! The 2018 Showcase will highlight 20+ of our area’s most beautiful gardens on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10am to 4pm. Join us for another FUN, FREE celebration of sustainable gardening practices (practices that cause no harm to the earth or its people and animals while attempting to actually enhance it). The information hub for this year’s tour is The Learning Garden at Venice High School (SE corner of Venice Boulevard and Walgrove Avenue).
The need for sustainable practices in our gardens continues, and responsible gardeners are looking for information on how to convert water-hungry lawns into beautiful and environment-friendly retreats.
The goals of the Showcase remain the same as in previous years: to provide visitors a relaxing opportunity to tour gorgeous gardens AND plenty of know-how to feed their own sustainable garden dreams. Whatever your interests--from chickens to beekeeping, rain barrels to composting, native plant selection to garden design overview--you will find like-minded gardeners available to answer your questions. And experts from The Learning Garden, Seed Library of Los Angeles, LA Audubon, Honeylove, conservation organization Selva International and more will be dispensing tips and information at locations throughout the tour.
