WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7th
Come join the Los Angeles Housing Department’s webinar as we provide an overview of the City’s enhanced renter protections which include when tenants must pay their COVID-19 rental arrears to avoid eviction. The webinar will also provide information on the expansion of “Just Cause” eviction protections to all rental units in the City of Los Angeles, including units not subject to the City’s Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO).
The one-hour webinars include a Q&A session. The webinars will be presented by LAHD's Rent Stabilization Staff. The session will be held via Zoom.
Visit https://housing.lacity.org/highlights/renter-protections to learn more about renter protections to view a recorded webinar and read a summary of the rules on eviction, rental arrears, and rent increases.

Regarding the LAMC 41.18 "no camping" signs posted at the Venice / Tuller encampment, the MVCC PHS&H Committee leadership learned from discussions with various city representatives familiar with the matter that the City Administrative Office requested the signs be removed as the Special Enforcement Zone of 500 ft extended into Culver City which is beyond the city’s jurisdiction. As such, LAMC 41.18 could not be legally enforced. The city intends to repost the signs so that the Special Enforcement Zone is within city limits.
The MVCC PHS&H Committee leadership was further informed that the mayor’s office is well aware of the Venice/Tuller encampment and it is high on the list for proactive housing such as Inside Safe. There is one larger encampment that needs to be addressed before the Venice/Tuller encampment. Once housing solutions are available the implementation of LAMC 41.18 at will be re-evaluated accordingly.

According to LAPD, these burglaries involve crews of three individuals,
one as the look out while the other two enter the house, usually through the back.
Pacific Division has formed a special burglary task force to address the increase in burglaries.

We are now accepting applications for our 2023-2024 Youth Advisory Council. The application deadline is Friday, July 7th, 2023 at 5:00 PM.
Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) started California's 36th Congressional District's inaugural Youth Advisory Council (YAC) in early 2018. YAC students will meet with a diverse group of peers from their community to discuss issues of importance and consider ways of getting involved locally. The YAC will work directly with staff in Rep. Lieu's office to collaborate on key issues for young people in California's 36th District. Students in 9th through 12th grade that live or attend school in the district are eligible to apply.
Rep. Lieu: "Our district is full of passionate young people who have already dedicated themselves to helping their community and advocating for a better future. Our Youth Advisory Council provides an excellent opportunity for students to talk about issues that matter to them with my Congressional office and find ways to channel their passion into action. I'm looking forward to another great year with our Youth Advisory Council and I encourage all interested students to apply!"
