We will also have a Special Board of Directors Meeting about the Mural. Please join us.

The purpose of this public meeting is to review the Mar Vista Gateway mural design, meet the artist, conduct a Q&A session, and hear comments from both the Board and the public regarding the design.

The average take in of blood for a drive is 12 pints. Mar Vista gave them 20! 
One pint of donated blood can save or help up to three lives. This is achieved because the collected blood is typically separated into three key components—red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—which can be used individually to treat different patients, such as trauma victims, cancer patients, or infants. Thank You Mar Vista!!!

100 years of serving our community

On February 26, 2026, LAPD Pacific Division celebrated a pretty remarkable milestone — 100 years of serving our community — with a Formal Divisional Inspection joined by the Chief of Police.

Zone 3 Director Andrew Marton was there to represent Mar Vista at this special occasion.

It was a proud day honoring the officers, staff, and families who have made Pacific Division what it is over the past century.

For those of us in Mar Vista, it's a good reminder of the partnership we share with our local division and the people who show up for our neighborhoods every day.

Crime Statistics & Information

On February 14, at 4:00am to 5:00am, two males removed copper wiring from approximately one dozen light poles in the Ocean Park Blvd, Armacost, & Westgate Ave vicinity in the dark at night.

Many lights have been repaired already.  If you have a one in your neighborhood still dark, contact the Councilwoman Traci Park website and fill out the Items To Repair form

The February 2026 Violent Crimes are :

1) Robbery – CARJACKING -    2/26/26  -
Near Venice Bl & Sepulveda.  Victim claimed  suspect approached him in parked vehicle and carjacked him.
Victim seen later in Culver City near his parked car.

2) AGG ASSAULT – 2/02/26 –
Near Venice Blvd & Sepulveda. Male suspect threw hammer at victim’s vehicle while victim drove by.

3)  AGG ASSAULT - 2/14/26 –
Near Pearl St and Bundy.Male suspect invited female victim on Valentine’s Day to reconcile relationship. During dispute, suspect strangled victim and slammed head on counter.  ARRESTED.  

4)  AGG ASSAULT – 2/13/26 –
Near Venice Blvd & Grand View Blvd – ExBoyfriend suspect struck victim.

5) AGG ASSAULT – 2/18/26 –
Near Venice Bl & Grand View - Female suspect slowly drove into victim after victim did not pick up her dog’s feces in parking lot.

6) AGG ASSAULT – 2/15/26 –
Washington Bl & Centinela – Male suspect brandished handgun, stated, “Get off my block.”

7) AGG ASSAULT – 2/15/26 –
3700 blk Centinela Ave – Two friends engaged in physical dispute.

8) AGG ASSAULT – 2/16/26 -
Sepulveda & National Blvd – male suspect threw ceramic vase at business security after told to leave for attempting to buy gift cards with fraudulent means.

9) AGG ASSAULT – 2/28/26 –
National & Sawtelle – Suspect threw trash bin at store manager when manager told him to leave premises.

Crime numbers for January 2026 and comparing it to January 2025 and the month prior to January 2026. 

As the first three months of 2025 averaged 95-105 crimes per month in the Mar Vista Community Council (MVCC) area, the last five months of 2025 had 71-79 crimes per month, a noticeable decrease in crimes.

For the first month of 2026, the MVCC area crimes continue with the lower side with 75 property crimes and five violent crimes.

The January 2026 Violent Crimes are :

1. RAPE – 1/16/26. Venice Blvd & Inglewood Blvd. Female at bar believed her drink was drugged, lost consciousness, believed she was raped.

2. ROBBERY – 1/03/26. Charnock Rd & McLaughlin Ave. Occurred In Apartment. Suspect & Victim are friends. Engaged in dispute, suspect pistol-whipped victim, and took property.

3. Aggravated Assault - 1/23/26. Charnock Rd & McLaughlin Ave. Suspect (ex-husband) threw a rock at victim during dispute.

4. Aggravated Assault – 1/22/26. Washington Pl & Inglewood Blvd. Suspect & victim were friends. During dispute, suspect brandished bb gun in waistband and swung a baseball bat at victim.

5. Aggravated Assault – 1/09/26. Palms Blvd & Overland Ave. Suspect and victim are neighbors. Suspect told victim to lower noise. When victim refused, suspect struck victim with fist.

GOOD NEWS

The large problematic homeless encampment on Sepulveda Blvd under the 10 freeway has been cleared out.

Personnel from both West Los Angeles, Pacific Area, Department of Sanitation, and Department of Social Services have clean and cleared out that vicinity.

What To Do To Prevent Your Home Burglarized:

• Consider investing in hidden your valuables by searching on Youtube: Hidden shelf compartments or hidden furniture compartments or “secret compartment furniture.

•  Invest in and use motion sensors on the side of the house and backyard.

•  With burglars occurring between 5:00pm and 9:00pm, take necessary means to make it look like you are home if you leave for a short period of time: put the TV on at extra loud volume, keep interior lights on, play music, close the shades so no one can peer inside.

Wire theft leaves Mar Vista streets in the dark

Mar Vista neighbors woke up to darkness as the new year started. 
Quite a few blocks in Mar Vista are affected by street lamps were damage from wire theft. 
Council woman Traci Park and Mar Vista field deputy Matt Holden came out to survey the damage and speak to neighbors. Hopefully they won't be left in the dark too long and the damage will be repaired in a timely manner. 

This is such a problem, the Mar Vista wire stealing issue made the news.
