8.2. [Administrative] [Funding] Approval and Ratification of Hospitality Funds for Bulk Board Meeting Snacks – Discussion and possible action regarding motion to approve and ratify a combined expenditure not to exceed $175 from the Office/Operational ‘Hospitality’ budget category to cover multiple itemized receipts for bulk, non-perishable, pre-packaged meeting snacks to be utilized across upcoming monthly Board meetings.

[Policy] [DIRECTOR] Letter of Support for Nourish LA's Application to the “1% for the Planet” Network – Discussion and possible action to approve an official MVCC letter of support for Nourish LA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating within MVCC jurisdiction boundaries. Nourish LA is applying to become an approved environmental partner with the “1% for the Planet” network to qualify for sustainable corporate funding. The letter will verify Nourish LA’s local presence and its positive impact on environmental sustainability, food waste reduction, and community welfare within MVCC boundaries.

LA Animal Services is kicking off the month-long Clear the Shelters campaign with waived adoption fees for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2 thanks to the ASPCA. With more than 1,300+ furry friends available to adopt or foster, now is a great time to bring home a new furry family member!
Youth Director, Chloe Samiley, who has left for the U.S. Naval Academy

Congratulations to our Youth Director, Chloe Samiley, who has left for the U.S. Naval Academy to attend college.
Chloe has been part of the Mar Vista community since childhood, attending MVCC meetings with her parents from the age of 8, participating in recreation sports at Mar Vista Recreation Center, and volunteering at numerous community events. As a Youth Director, she played a key role in developing the MVCC's Venice/405 Underpass Mural Survey, supported the Board with technology and outreach initiatives, and recently represented the MVCC as a panelist at the EmpowerLA Youth Conference.
We thank Chloe for her years of dedicated service to our community and wish her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter. We are proud to see her continue her commitment to public service at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The brand new sparkling Mar Vista Mural which was in desparate need of a makeover was unveiled Sunday, May 31st. Members of Mar Vista Community Council participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony with Council Member Traci Park and Muralist DJ Neff. 1. Robbery – Street :
4/01/26. Washington Pl & McLaughlin Ave. When victim confronted suspect take victim’s mail package from porch, suspect brandished handgun.
2.Robbery – Street :
4/08/26. 10770 Lawler St. Susps met victim to sell item from Facebook Marketplace, used handgun, took iPad.
3.Robbery – Street:
4/13/26. Overland Ave & Palms Blvd. Susp met victim to sell item from facebook marketplace. ( same victim as previous facebook meet) , brandished knife, took phone.
4. Robbery – Business:
4/27/26. Overland Ave & National Blvd. Masked suspects entered convenience store, jumped counter, and took registers.
5. Agg Assault –
4/15/26. Gateway Blvd & Barrington. HOMELESS. Suspect brandished knife at homeless victim after aggressive panhandling.
6. Agg Assault –
4/21/26. Gateway Blvd & Barrington. HOMELESS. Suspect brandished gun at homelessvictim after aggressive panhandling. Victim is same homeless panhandler as previous agg assault.

4/13/26. 3600 Meier St. DOMESTIC. Suspect (Girlfriend) struck victim with sewing machine.
8. Agg Assault –
4/04/26. 3500 blk Inglewood Blvd. Suspect (Friend) attacked & struck elderly victim unprovoked.

4/02/26. Centinela Ave & Palms Blvd. Elderly suspect hit elderly victim with blunt object. Susp & Vict have long-term ongoing issues.
CRIME TRENDS & CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
Various burglaries are still occurring in the MVCC area, but first to note are the houses under construction and houses under fumigation. When there is a tented residence, the burglars know the residence is vacant for a short time and windows are likely open. Or they will still break into the house. Not only in the Mar Vista area, but throughout the westside, there is an increase where burglars removed valuables and jewelry from fumigated houses.
Consider storing your valuables elsewhere during this time.
Consider informing neighbors to keep an eye out for strangers on your property during this time.
For houses under construction, burglars often see it as an opportunity to break in at night and steal contractor’s tools. When the construction is near completion, some burglars steal appliances, fixtures, water heaters, etc.
Other various burglaries in the area also include the burglary crew burglaries where multiple suspects enter backyards, smash the glass door, and ransack the house targeting jewelry, cash, high-end hand bags. Burglars also enter apartment complexes and take mail packages from the mail room or the garage and take whatever valuables they can. Businesses are also being burglarized from restaurants, dental offices, and schools.
One burglary arrest was made in April where a male suspect (from Lennox) was arrested attempted to break into a home near Clover Ave elementary school.
CATALYTIC CONVERTERS have been on the rise again in 2026 citywide and there is little to prevent it. Various Toyota vehicles are mainly being targeted. Consider getting a car cover so thieves will not see that it is a Toyota.

drive at the Spring Fest at Mar Vista Rec. The room was
buzzing all day! You are very much appreciated.
The average take in of blood for a drive is 12 pints. Mar Vista gave them 20!
One pint of donated blood can save or help up to three lives. This is achieved because the collected blood is typically separated into three key components—red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—which can be used individually to treat different patients, such as trauma victims, cancer patients, or infants. Thank You Mar Vista!!!
100 years of serving our community
On February 26, 2026, LAPD Pacific Division celebrated a pretty remarkable milestone — 100 years of serving our community — with a Formal Divisional Inspection joined by the Chief of Police.
Zone 3 Director Andrew Marton was there to represent Mar Vista at this special occasion.
It was a proud day honoring the officers, staff, and families who have made Pacific Division what it is over the past century.
For those of us in Mar Vista, it's a good reminder of the partnership we share with our local division and the people who show up for our neighborhoods every day.
