Mar Vista Community Town Hall was a success

Posted on 10/27/2026

Thank you to the 20+ attendees to our Town Hall & Meet and Greet!

We greatly enjoyed meeting our stakeholders and explaining what the Mar Vista Community Council does, can do, and can not do for you.

Our feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we hope to do this again in the future.

We thank the Mar Vista Branch Library for hosting us, Director Steven Hedge for donating bottled water, and the MVCC ad hoc planning committee for putting it together.

Conversations with Veterans   |  Sunday, November 8, 2025

2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

We are looking for veterans or reservists who have been on active duty and who live or work or volunteer in the CA 36 Congressional District or nearby (including West LA VA) and would be willing to tell me their story and be considered for the event.

Veterans who would like to share their story should contact:  Janet at [email protected] or call the office at 323-651-1040.

Veterans can either email me one of their stories or I am happy to call them and take notes as they tell me the story.

Start a Conversation.
Be the Difference.

Suicide is still too often met with silence, stigma, or shame.

With one conversation, asking someone how they’re really doing — and being ready to truly listen — can save lives. Because here’s what we know: No one has to face this alone. Help exists. Healing is possible. And all it can take is for one person to start a conversation.

MVCC has a new Youth Director.

Posted on 08/04/2026

Mar Vista Community Council has a new Youth Director.

Our Youth Director Chloe Samiley left to attend the Naval Academy.

We needed to fill the position and we were lucky enough to have Spencer Reisner fill the position.

Spencer is the perfect person to become our Youth Director. He has been attending Mar Vista Community Council meetings for a few years and he was also instrumental in creating the position. He was sworn in at our Board of Directors Meeting last week. Spencer will be serving on the Elections and By-laws Committee along with his Youth Director duties.

Thank you to all who donated blood!

Posted on 03/29/2026

Thank you to all who came out and supported our blood
drive at the Spring Fest at Mar Vista Rec.  The room was
buzzing all day! You are very much appreciated.

The average take in of blood for a drive is 12 pints. Mar Vista gave them 20!
One pint of donated blood can save or help up to three lives. This is achieved because the collected blood is typically separated into three key components—red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—which can be used individually to treat different patients, such as trauma victims, cancer patients, or infants. Thank You Mar Vista!!!
