The mission of the MVCC Recreation & Open Space Enhancement Committee is to work towards improving the quality of life for Mar Vista Stakeholders by enhancing the availability and quality of open space as well as increasing recreational opportunities in the Mar Vista vicinity including but not limited to improved bike lanes, bike parking, walking trails, pocket parks, dog parks, access to open fields and recreation facilities, as well as improved sustainability.
The committee also works in cooperation with the Mar Vista Park Advisory Board, park users, local neighborhood associations, other residents, and the MVCC Board of Directors to further these goals and help provide improvements to the park as well as other public open spaces in Mar Vista. The ROSE Committee members also work closely with the Mar Vista Fall Festival Committee, which produces the annual Fall Festival at Mar Vista Recreation Center in October of every year.
Due to the overlap with the Mar Vista Park Advisory Board issues, the committee generally meet with the PAB on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the park, rather than holding regular separate meetings.
