13.8 [Policy] [DIRECTOR] Support for ZA-2026-1347-CUB for the existing Sunny Market & Liquor (12815-12817 WEST VENICE BLVD) – Discussion and possible action regarding motion for MVCC to support a conditional-use permit to allow the sale of a full line of alcoholic beverages for off-site consumption in conjunction with an existing 1,440 sq. ft. market.
13.9 [Funding] [DIRECTOR] Purchase of 200 door hangers for the 10/02/2026 PLUM meeting – Discussion and possible action regarding an expenditure not to exceed $300.00 for the purchase of 200 door hangers for the 10/02/2026 PLUM meeting to promote the presentation of the proposed project “Good Standing” located at 12906 W Venice Boulevard. (ZA-2026-3205-ZV-CUB).

13.12 [Policy] [TI&S] Extending No Parking Zones on Sawtelle Blvd. – Discussion and possible action regarding a motion for the MVCC to advocate with LADOT for the red curb to be extended near side street entrances on Sawtelle and Centinela between National and Venice by at least 15 feet past the legal parking limit, to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists coming from the side streets.
13.13. [Administrative] [EAC] Neighborhood Flag Project Structure – Discussion and possible action regarding review and approval of the neighborhood flag project structure for a CFP, judging, and selecting the neighborhood flag designs.
13.14. [Administrative] [DIRECTOR] MVCC Board Meeting Location – Discussion regarding the current location of MVCC Board meetings at Windward School and consideration of whether to return Board meetings to Mar Vista Recreation Center, where meetings were previously held. Discussion will include accessibility, availability, meeting space, and other considerations relevant to selecting a public meeting location. No action is proposed at this time.

Ocean Farms Open House Friday, Sept 18th

Ocean View Farms Community Garden is a private nonprofit corporation (501c3) operating a six-acre organic garden under an agreement with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.
This year, Ocean View Farms, one of the largest community gardens in Los Angeles, celebrated 51 years of service to our community!
We are hosting an Open House on Friday, September 18 from 4-5:30pm. Come and tour our sunny six-acre hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Our address is 3304 S. Centinela Ave at Rose Ave in Mar Vista.
If you are interested in becoming a gardener at OVF, there's an easy-to-complete application for a garden plot, which is also downloadable from our website. Be aware, there is a waiting list for a garden plot. Check out our website for more information oceanviewfarms.net.

Santa Monica Airport Conversion Project

The City of Santa Monica has released the results from Survey 3B for the Santa Monica Airport Conversion Project. You can read the summary here:

The project is now entering Phase 4: Illustrative Masterplan, where the planning team will refine the Framework Diagram developed in earlier phases into a more detailed Preferred Scenario Framework Plan that illustrates how the future park could be organized. Opportunities for the community to learn about the Framework Plan and provide public comment are anticipated in 2026 through a Community Event and short survey. Upcoming board and commission meetings include:
- Planning Commission - September 16
- Recreation & Parks Commission - September 17
- Commission on Sustainability, Environmental Justice, and the Environment - September 21
- Airport Commission - September 28
This work will continue through Fall and Winter 2026.
We encourage you to explore the survey results, stay engaged with upcoming updates, and share this information with others who may be interested in the project.

Mar Vista Community Council has a new Youth Director.
Our Youth Director Chloe Samiley left to attend the Naval Academy.
We needed to fill the position and we were lucky enough to have Spencer Reisner fill the position.
Spencer is the perfect person to become our Youth Director. He has been attending Mar Vista Community Council meetings for a few years and he was also instrumental in creating the position. He was sworn in at our Board of Directors Meeting last week. Spencer will be serving on the Elections and By-laws Committee along with his Youth Director duties.

drive at the Spring Fest at Mar Vista Rec. The room was
buzzing all day! You are very much appreciated.
The average take in of blood for a drive is 12 pints. Mar Vista gave them 20!
One pint of donated blood can save or help up to three lives. This is achieved because the collected blood is typically separated into three key components—red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—which can be used individually to treat different patients, such as trauma victims, cancer patients, or infants. Thank You Mar Vista!!!

On February 14, at 4:00am to 5:00am, two males removed copper wiring from approximately one dozen light poles in the Ocean Park Blvd, Armacost, & Westgate Ave vicinity in the dark at night.
Many lights have been repaired already. If you have a one in your neighborhood still dark, contact the Councilwoman Traci Park website and fill out the Items To Repair form
The February 2026 Violent Crimes are :
1) Robbery – CARJACKING - 2/26/26 -
Near Venice Bl & Sepulveda. Victim claimed suspect approached him in parked vehicle and carjacked him.
Victim seen later in Culver City near his parked car.
2) AGG ASSAULT – 2/02/26 –
Near Venice Blvd & Sepulveda. Male suspect threw hammer at victim’s vehicle while victim drove by.
3) AGG ASSAULT - 2/14/26 –
Near Pearl St and Bundy.Male suspect invited female victim on Valentine’s Day to reconcile relationship. During dispute, suspect strangled victim and slammed head on counter. ARRESTED.
4) AGG ASSAULT – 2/13/26 –
Near Venice Blvd & Grand View Blvd – ExBoyfriend suspect struck victim.
5) AGG ASSAULT – 2/18/26 –
Near Venice Bl & Grand View - Female suspect slowly drove into victim after victim did not pick up her dog’s feces in parking lot.
6) AGG ASSAULT – 2/15/26 –
Washington Bl & Centinela – Male suspect brandished handgun, stated, “Get off my block.”
7) AGG ASSAULT – 2/15/26 –
3700 blk Centinela Ave – Two friends engaged in physical dispute.
8) AGG ASSAULT – 2/16/26 -
Sepulveda & National Blvd – male suspect threw ceramic vase at business security after told to leave for attempting to buy gift cards with fraudulent means.
9) AGG ASSAULT – 2/28/26 –
National & Sawtelle – Suspect threw trash bin at store manager when manager told him to leave premises.
